I have a project to build a cross for our church. I will be aboui 4ft high and it has to be made from pine wood. I need to know where the cross should be located on the main post. If anyone has plans on how to make one or any ideas I would appricate hearing from you.
Thanks Jim

Jim:
Go into the church - there's usually a cross on the altar. You can get the proportions from that - length of cross beam vs height.
If the cross is to be buried (planted in the ground) add enough on the vertical to accomodate that.
If I were building it I'd use a half mortise. If you don't want hardware to show, the entire assembly could be glued

Thanks for your help. That is a good idea.
I am planimg on putting it on the wall behind the alter with a light in it. I have a general idea how I want it to look but I was having trouble with the proportions.
Thanks again for your help
