can anyone tell me what equipment it would take to hook up to my alarm box and use a cell phone to call security company when alarm goes off. the current phone company is charging almost $60.00 a month and the phone at the wash is never used unless someone sets off the alarm. the current phone company is going to charge me a fee to list themselve as my long distance carrier and i have never called anyone at all long distance. i have 2 cell phones now and can get extra phones for $10.00 each per month. i am throwing money down the drain with at&t. can anyone help.

first, tell them you do not want a long distance carrier. AT&T is known for cramming. They did it to me as well.

Anyway, I do not know a way to do this unless you purchase an alarm with an integral dialer and cell phone system built into the system.

Here is a post by the forum guru for alarm systems:

What brand and model is the alarm? Nearly every brand has a cell dialer of some type. They use a dedicated cell network, but it will be a _lot_ cheaper than $60/month.
