We have an acre of land in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. After excavating for a road to our building site, the hillside was left bare. It is steep and we were advised to plant crown vetch to control erosion. After reading other posts regarding the problems with crown vetch, can you recommend something else that won't spread into the national forest or the neighbors' land?

This is a shot in the dark, but how about Annual Rye Grass just for quick cover and allow the natural/native vegitation re-establish itself?
