After living in my house for 2 years I've finally decided to try to use the existing alarm without monitoring. When we moved in I disconnected all the wires from the control panel at the door because it beeped all the time. I've recently re-connected those and am getting a zone 3 error, which based on my research means a fuse problem. My 2 questions are...

1. how do i access the fuse(s)? I assume them to be in the main control box, but cannot locate them. There is a silver heat disbursement piece in the upper left hand corner which is where I though the fuses would be.

2. should i be worried that the unit is also not recognizing a potential communication error? we do not have phone service at all in our home so I am wondering why it would not identify this is as a problem.

Thanks in advance for any insight or help you may be able to offer!

Check your model number. On a PC1550 there is no such shield on the upper left of the motherboard the three fuses are in plain sight.

Are you seeing the zone three indicator _after_ you press *2?

OK...my mistake. It's actually a PC 1555 MX, which answers my two questions below since the Zone 3 light indicates a communcation error. That leads me to my next question as to how to bypass the communciation monitoring as I will not be using a monitoring service for the alarm, nor do I even have a home phone line. Thanks for your help!!

Thought so...

In the sticky titled: "Alarm Forum FAQ (Please read before posting)", the specific instructions for turning off the dialer and telephone line monitor function are posted.
