I'm curious what others would recommend for a residential garbage disposal mainly for smallish food scraps and coffee grinds. I've never been one to shove whole chicken legs down there or anything, but I want it to be able to handle larger food items if necessary. I like the InSinkErator brand, but there seems to be a lot of options.

Also, we will be installing it with a sink mounted air switch... does this make a difference?

I can't recommend a disposal, but you can add an air switch to any disposal. They come in plug in types that you connect to the receptacle and then plug the disposal into that.

Why would you put coffee grounds down? They're already ground....sprinkle them in the flowerbeds or similar.

ISE is good..mid range Evolution series.... or upper range Badger

Wasteking is also a good national brand...again midrange like a 3200 0r 3300

Kenmore is supposed to be good as well..I believe they are made by ISE.

The main thing is you want one that is carried locally by more than one place. That way if you have problems later, you have local support if required. You also want a national brand that has been around a while.
