I have a vista 20 with 3 zones, 3,4,5, all set as perimeter zones. They all work, when open show a fault, and when closed I can set the alarm and tripit by opening any door zone. The problem is the zones will not chime when open. Chime is set at the keypad. What did I miss???
Thanks

Assuming that this is a Vista 20p (the suffix is important).
Assuming that the keypad sounder is functional, and that your zone types are correctly set, could you have turned on *26 (chime by zone list)?
It's one of those settings that doesn't mean what you _think_ it means.

The system is a 20P. I turned off *26 and still do not get a chime on door opening. Should I have done a reset afterward??

try this on your keypad press 1&3 at same time see if you get 17 if you do then hit ** and go to programing and *190 and put 10 then *99 give this a try

My keypad id is 16, the first on the system. 190 is for keypad 17. I am actually at a loss, because everything else works as it should.

Do you get _any_ of the keypad piezo/speaker sounds?
I've seen a _lot_ of posts from people who have had speaker/piezo failure on 6150 and 6160 keypads.

Yes, I get sounds from the keypad. Ex. password, away or stay, sounds. I have been back through all programming, but it must be "can't see the forrest for the trees". I must have a setting wrong, but am seeing what I expect to see.

There's really not that many settings that can affect this. Zone type, Chime by zone setting, and keypad sound are pretty much all there is.

I have the exact same problem with the same set-up. All keypad chimes work and are on, 26 is set to 0, using the entry/exit zone. I used the test mode (password + #5) and walked around the house and the keypads chimed and voiced as required. Just not doing it outside of test mode. Any ideas? It must be a panel problem... must be missing a program value.

The only settings which affect the chime sounds are the *26 chime by zone location, the zone type, and the settings for keypads 17+. That's it, that's all. This is one area where Ademco style panels have very few options.

So than it is fair to say that my circuit board is defective?

Again, without actually looking at what you have programmed for the zone types and other settings, I cannot tell. With DIY installs, often people inadvertantly change things without realizing it.
Try defaulting the system and start over, you may be surprised.

I did a *97 reset. I have only programmed zone 2 as a entry/exit along with my one keypad on address 16. The rest of the zones are left in their default setting. Field 26 =0 and the keypad chime is on.
Still no chiming on opening the front door.
What have I missed?
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

make sure the zone type in question 56 is o1 and the zone is set for partition1, make sure question 26 is 0, is this the only keypad? make sure address is correct. if using address 17 check options in question 190. Also does zone show faulted when u open it if not then you have a wiring issue. what type of keypad do you have? programming is hard with a 6150 model. good luck.

I have been playing with this a little and read elsewhere that the keypad must read "chime disabled" i.e. passcode + 9. Sure enough I get a fault and chime on and only on Zone 1 which is a PIR with EOR set to entry/exit (for chiming purposes). All other zones with the entry/exit value will not chime?
I have made each field entry identical from Zone 1-7 and only zone 1 chimes as expected. The rest are silent.
ANY IDEAS??
Zone 1 - Aurora PIR - normally set to Int. Follower - but now entry /exit - has EOR
Zone 2 - NC door push button switch - entry/exit - No EOR
Zone 3 - NC door push button switch - entry/exit - No EOR
Zone 4 - Aurora PIR - normally set to Int. Follower - but now entry /exit - has EOR
Zone 5 - Aurora PIR - normally set to Int. Follower - but now entry /exit - has EOR
Zone 6 - Aurora PIR - normally set to Int. Follower - but now entry /exit - has EOR
Zone 7 - NC door push button switch - entry/exit - No EOR
All are on the same partition - 1
All have a response time of 0 = 10ms
I did not touch the report code values
Field 26=0
Field 190 (for second keypad) = 10
This is screwy that only zone 1 will chime as expected. What does that indicate? What is special about zone 1 from the factory? What do I need to change to make zones 2,3,7 chime?
Thanks for input guys.

Whats different about zone 1 is that it can be used for 2 wire smokes and is the only zone that has to have an end of line resistor. Shouldnt have anything to do with your problem though. I always set the zone response time for 1 on all zones. 0 is normally used for window shocks that open and close really fast. 0 could also give you false alarms when your sensors get older. Try setting all for response of 1. If that doesnt get your chime going after youve defaulted panel and checked all programming try this. Turn chime by zone list on(field 26=1), then goto field 81. select list 03 for chime zones then press*. Enter a 2 digit zone( example 01 for zone 1) that you want to chime followed by*, repeat for each chime zone then press 00 to exit list. Answer no to delete zone and delete list. to exit zone list enter 00. then you can exit programming. Good luck and dont forget to turn chime back on after you exit programming. Gets me everytime.

Thanks for the help. What you described is exactly what I did after my last post. It works. Still don't know why it won't work with Field 26=0. But now I just don't care. Its all programed and ready to go! Thanks again!
