Can the Vista 20P keypads chime for both partitions 1 & 2 at the same time even though the keypads belong to only 1 partition?
Also can you setup a zone to chime only and never alarm in any mode?

I _think_ that zone type 23 (No alarm response) will still chime, if not you can use a configurable zone to "roll your own"
I think the only way a zone will chime two different partitions is if it's programmed as a common zone (and I'm not _sure_ even then).
You _could_ use the output programming to set up a piezo chime, other sounder that chimes by a zone list.

I tried Zone type 23 and that does not chime.
I also tried the common zone and it only chimed if I switched the keypad to that zone, so thats a no go.
Explain to me more about the Output option? and maybe how to set that up.
Thanks

Look in your manual under output programming. Basically you have to set up an output to trigger the activation of an outside device. Read it over, and see if that looks like something you want to try.
It's easier to answer specific questions on this regard, after all, we are talking about custom programming.

So I read the Programming Manual several times now and didnt get much out of the section for triggering or outputs. Is there anyplace that has exapmles of situation that are comon things you may want to program into the Vista 20P? Like triggereing a X10 light to go on, or chiming from a zone.

It's been awhile since someone asked a output programming question, so the last answers are pretty deep into the archives. First you _have_ to have a 6160 keypad or equivalent. There is no real way to do this blind.
Lets try this example: we are going to set the built in output 17 to trigger a low current piezo (less than 100mA) when zone 5 is opened. (In general, the * key is the equavalent of "enter")
First you use *79 to map the output:
Installer code + 8 + 00
*79
Enter Output No.
17*
Output norm low
0=NO*
At this point, it will go back to the output number selection. Enter 00 to quit *79
Next, Define output function
*80
Output funct. #
01*
it will show a summary screen with the default function, press *
Activated by
select 3 for zone number
*
(you wil be using the prompts listed in the manual under "C")
Enter Zn No.
5*
Enter Event
1= Alarm/Fault/Trouble
*
Output Action
1 = close for 2 seconds.
*
Enter output No.
17*
you will get a summary screen again. Press*
At the Output Funct # prompt, enter 00 to exit *80 programming.
*99 to exit system programming.
Wire the the piezo with the negative connected to the output 17 wire, and the positive connected to aux power + (terminal 5)

My trigger ports (17 & 18) are being used by a keyswitch. Can output ports 1-16 be used in the same way instead? If so, I dont understand where the output actually appears (terminal numer?) ? Or do I need to add hardware?

No, I think you are confusing the terminals strip numbers with the output numbers. Look at the wiring diagram and your motherboard. There is an 8 pin connector near the center top of the motherboard. That's where the outputs are connected.
90% of the time, they leave the matching plug tucked in the system box behind the battery. If not, it's a fairly standard inline pin connector.

Right, and that strip connector is wired and connected to the red and green LED's on the 4146 keyswitch, so I cannot use them.

Oh, bother...A full function keyswitch setup...Who knew...?
Yes, for what you want to do you would have to add either a 4204 module or a 4229 module. The former would get your 4 relays to work with and the latter would get you 2 relays and 8 hardwire expansion zones.
The 17 and 18 triggers are the only two. All of those other pins are grounds and data connections.
