I am in the process of planning some construction projects around the house. First I am building A frame roofs over my front and back doors. Next is a partially covered, elevated deck in the back. After these I will be building a 2-car garage. What I'm looking for is easy to use software that will generate drawings good enough for my local construction officials, materials lists, etc..... Does anyone know of such software? Thanks in advance!! :coffee:

Lots of stuff out there. Ranges from <$100 to over $5000. If you are a DIY you obviously don't want the latter. If you have strick building codes, you will need proper drawings for the permits, Chief Architect is one high quality source. Not inexpensive, but very thorough.

Just Bill- Thanks! Looks like they have a $99 version that may suit my needs....A little more research, and I think I may just try this out.

Chief Arch. puts out Better Homes and Gardens Interior Designer also, for $50. I also have Punch Design, a lot harder to work. Compare them, most do material lists and prints, but not all: Home Design Software Review 2009 - TopTenREVIEWS (http://home-design-software-review.toptenreviews.com/)
