Hi
I tried to put a photo here with Photobucket but had trouble.
Celler 25 years old and I framed out a wall. Had to go around a lot of things so couldn''t just make wall on floor then raise it up. I did it this way;
1-nail 8' 2x4 plate to floor, 2- nailed 2x4 vertical at each end of floorplate and nailed top plate on them level and plumb -allowed room/studs at ends for sheetrock. Screwed 16" o.c studs and wall seems ok.
3-Kept going with another section. Problem is I mistakenly started at other end and ended up 1/2 inch lower top plate than other section and 1/4' space.
4- two wires 14 guage were behind so I pulled them forward temporarily to use a junction box for power.
Question:
A guy who does sheet rock came in and pointed at the place where the sections meet and where the wires were shaking his head no.. He did not speak English so I don't know what was wrong.
Sorry to have no pik - I'll try photobucket again.
Any idea what he was concerned about before I keep going?
When wires come thru sheet rock as they should[attached to a box on a stud] does anything sound against code?
Thank you

It sounds like he was more concerned with how he was going to make the sheetrock meet.
A box on a stud or a joist is legal as long as it's not hidden.

What started this post was a person indicated I had a n error at the place I took the picture.
I do not plan on sheet rocking but wanted to know what he thought was wrong.
Chandler has helped me there as the thread indicates.
I will swing the box on top (visibly) for an overhead light and fill the space in with a piece of 2x4. Perhaps I will sandwich the filed in space with two pieces of 12" 2x4 top + bottom.
Thanx
