Hello, Hope one of you can shed some light on this. I have a "self monitored" ademco 20P alarm with hardwired doors and wireless motion and fire sensors. This weekend while I was away, one of the motion detectors started tripping. The first night it tripped about 6 times all with the same code (911-0038). 911 is an alarm code and 0038 is the zone. Realizing that it was false since no other sensors, either motion or hardwired doors tripped, I ignored them and eventually got back to sleep. The next day it tripped about 3 more times. When I got home, I took off the cover figuring it was a spider or bug causing it to trip, but everything looked good. When I put the cover back on, I could not clear the CHECK condition. I replaced the batteries in the motion and then was able to clear the CHECK. Question... could the batteries going bad have caued the motion to trip? Normally I believe it's suppose to give a trouble code, not an alarm code.

Thank you in advance

hi

what type of wireless motion is it? Is it the ademco 5890pi? Depending on where you put your motion, there could be a heat source that keeps triggering the alarm since these are infrared they pick up movement and heat. I know that I once had the motion positioned near a pipe and when ever hot water heated the pipe the alarm would go off. Look around the room and see if anything is producing heat that may set this off.

It's a 5890pi. It's in the kitchen, about 6' up on the wall, facing away from the windows, not near any heat source. Also, the first false alarm was around 3 am, then spuradically thruout the morning until about 10 am, then nothing until the next day around 9:30 am.

hmmm.

Do you still have this problem after you changed the batteries? If you do I still think there's some type of heat source setting it off. Its doesn't have to be near the source of the heat, as long as its facing toward it. If its facing some type of appliance maybe a dishwasher, it heats up while in a wash cycle, it can set it off.

Don't know if it still is happening since we are now home. As far as heat, unless someone broke into he house, nothing was running.
