I had a bad fuel pump on my 1989 Merc 35hp outboard S/N 0b167294. I removed it with some difficulty due to a mounting screw rubbing against the lower cowling. I thought nothing of this at the time. I rebuilt the square fuel pump without any problems, but noticing that the pump does not stay together due to the new springs, gasgets, and diaphrams. I tried every which way to get it mounted back on the engine but to no avail.:wall: Has anyone had the same problem or know how to remount it?:mad:

Is that a 2 piece lower cowl? If it is split them and the side will be open.
