We have recently moved to an older mobile home. The linoleum in the master bath has spots that seem to have bubbles under it as well as spots that have something hard under it. We want to replace the linoleum but we want to make sure the floor feels as comfortable as it looks. I know it will probably be a hot and sweaty job but I prefer to do it myself if at all possible. Any help or advice would be great! The floor underneath what we have right now is sound as far as we can tell. Thank you.

What you will probably find under the linoleum will be particle board subflooring. The worst in the industry. The raised parts are most likely moisture bubbles that have expanded the particle board, since it absorbs water quickly and expands. To do it right, you will need to, first, remove the linolem to see what kind of subflooring you have. If particle board, it should be replaced with Advantech or some other type approved subflooring material. Then you can start over with your ideal floor covering.

Thank you Chandler. I checked the subflooring and it is pylwood, not sure what thickness. I am pretty sure this bath has had problems with leaks and rotted subflooring in the past. The plan has become to have a local professional who is a friend to come out and check it to give us an idea, since the project seems to need more than DIY experience.

That is good in a way, that the floor is plywood. Hopefully the big problems were solved. If not, it will be fairly easy to remove, since it was cut out previously. What part of the great state are you located in? Let us know if we can help on any thing else, and welcome aboard.
