I just bought a lawn mower that had an electrical issue. The mower goes but has a bad connection sometimes. If you pull the lever it turns on sometimes and sometimes it does not. I have checked the electrical connections and it all seems correct. Does anyone know where I can get a schematic of the switch assembly? Does anyone know how to bypass the switch? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help. I can find what part I am looking for, but I want to know what each electrical hook up does. Red goes to blah, blue goes to blah, etc.... I want a schematic so I can test the wiring and replace if necessary. Does anyone know where to find this?

The place where the model number is at is smudged out. I know it is a MTD yard machine with an 18inch cut. It has a 3 HP motor and when I look throught the pictures I think it looks like a 18-707. I am not exactlly sure though. There are two wires that go directlly into the mower. They are blue and red. There is a swith at the top inside the handle that has 5 wires onto it. White - through the cord and to the Receptical, Black, To the receptical, Black through the cord, and blue and red that go through the cord. (If i supply direct power to the red and blue going into the motor should It work or is there a relay or something else somewhere?) Thanks again

Ok this is an Electric walk behind mower
Unfortunately I do not know where to obtain any manuals for mtd without model and serial number.
You could try the customer service contact on the site that indy posted.

Here is the formatting for MTD model #'s
Our current (1997 and later) model numbers are generally 11 characters in length. A character could be a number, dash, or a letter.
If "0" represents all numbers and/or dashes and "X" represents all letters, the model number should appear as follows -
Model number example: 00XX000X000
In the model number box, enter the model number of the equipment, leaving off the last three digits.
When entering the model number, do not include any spaces or dashes.
Note : Please do not enter the Engine Model Number.
Examples of how model numbers begin:
Lawn Tractor...13
Garden Tractor...14
Push Mower...11
Self Propelled Mower...12
Electric Mower...18
Snowthrower...31
Chipper/Blower Vac/Log splitter...24
Commercial Zero Turn Rider...15
Garden Tiller...21
Edger/Trimmer Mower...31
Hand Held String Trimmer...41 or 42
Commercial Walk Behind...55

Sorry I am of no more help.
Good Luck :)

I don't believe I would be running household current through anything without knowing the voltage requirements of the motor and just how you get to those. There may be a converter and/or other components that have to be considered.
