My 2000 sq ft hip roof ranch only has like 6 pieces of vented aluminum soffiting. Is it possible to add more perforated vent pieces without having to redo the whole thing?
Only thing I've been able to come up with so far is *carefully* cutting out squares and adding the pre-made rectangular aluminum screen vents (the ones normally used with plywood soffiting) using sheet metal screws. I'd like to add more normal perforated vented pieces if possible, but I'm not sure it is. I've installed new soffiting before and know how they lock together, which is why I'm guessing the rectangular screens are my only real option.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.

You should be able to find perforated soffiting material, since you have experience in installing it, the only thing you would need to do is cut some additional holes in the wooden soffit so more can move upward where you install the new perf soffit. Have you checked with suppliers in your area for it?

Sorry, guess I wasn't clear enough. The house already has aluminum soffiting all the way around. I was wanting to add more perforated pieces to it without having to redo the whole thing. Is it possible?

You were clear. I suggested you replace every 4th or 5th piece of soffiting with perforated soffiting. BUT, you will have to cut holes in the wood soffit underneath the metal to allow air to flow up into the attic space.

2000 sq.ft. attic / 150 (if no vapor barrier in attic) = 13.33 sq. ft. of vents required. 1/2 intake in soffit, 1/2 exhaust in ridge or vent pots near top. 13.33 / 2 = 6.66 or 7 sq. ft. of soffit vents required.
Some vinyl vented panels (12" wide) have 5.8 sq. inches per lin. ft. (net free vent area)
2000 sq. ft. - maybe 35' wide x 57' long. Add the total sides = 184' availiable for vented soffit.
7 sq. ft. needed in soffit x 144' (12 x 12) = 1008 sq. inches need.
1008 / 5.8 = 173.79 174' of soffit material 12" wide needed. All but 10' of your soffts need a 12" slot cut out under the vinyl. The house dimensions are a guess as is the no vapor barrier. This explains the math: Air Vent: Continuous Soffit Vents Specifications (http://www.airvent.com/homeowner/products/intakeSoffit-specs.shtml) Be safe, G
