Hi,
I am planning to start my wood finishing work on my newly setup kitchen. Cabinet shutters are made up of finger jointed rubber board, which has got a pleasant white/yellow color. My plan is to put PU, with wood staining. But I am a beginner. Hu !
As part of a test, I tried normal varnishing. This leaked my confidence, and need help.
I used a wood sealer, which was like a thick semi-white fluid. I used NC thinner to thin it before applying using a cloth rug. It resulted in lot of marks, which didn't get leveled even after sanding. Original rubber board was smooth, but now it got lot of bumpy line marks.. What went wrong ?
Also, I am planning to use PU sealer two coats, followed by stain, followed by PU matt. Should I really use wood filler before sealer ?

Don't really understand what you're working on, as well as some the abbreviations.
what is this "rubber" board?
What is NC thinner?
I imagine PU is short for polyurethane - correct?
BTW - filler first, then stain, then sealer & top coat
