I have a 10hp horizontal shaft Tecumseh engine that will only run with the choke closed. If I open it, it will die.

Any ideas?

The carb needs cleaning. Take the bowl off and clean it and the bolt that holds it on. There should be a very tiny hole near the end that is probably clogged, causing the problem.
