I've been living an old mountain house for 3 years now. It was hand-built by a local man who just decided one day that he wanted to build a house so everything about the house is a little quirky to say the least. The location is right. The price is right. Not having laundry is terrible... and expensive. Basically, I have a washer and dryer and I want to find a way to rig my washer to work. I can't do anything permanent to the house as I am a student and I only rent this house during the school year. Is there any possible temporary solution? I'm not ashamed to have a crazy, trashy setup going on... as long as my washer works. I know you can hook up dishwashers to the sink... Can you hook up washers? Do I need one of these laundry tray pumps? I am at a total loss. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There are portable washing machines that can clamp to the sink faucet and discharge into the sink. Roll out of the way when not using. Small capacity but you probably don't plan on large, family sized loads.
To start, Google Haier or portable washing machines.

There is a Y shaped washing machine hose hook up more or less specifically for your situation. With a few fittings it can easily be set up to hook to your kitchen sink etc so as long as there is a hot/cold faucet near the washer there is a way.

Go to a hardware store will good knowledgeable help, give them the specifics of your situation and they can work it out for you in just a few minutes. It is not that difficult.

you only need cold water to wash for most clothes. could run hose from sink to cold water connection.
