We had a lot of lightning last night and today, on my genie ims100/0a opener, you have to hold the button down on the wall switch to close the door.
My daughter has one also and hers does nothing although there is power to the unit, both sensors are lit (one red and one green) an inspection of the circuit boards doesn't reveal any obvious problems. I'd sure rather fix it than replace it. Any and all suggestions are very much appreciated.'
thanks
Pat

What you describe sounds like a bad sensor, and it is possible for the receiver to be bad and still indicate good (I think). Block the sensors with your foot, one light should go out. If it does, the problem is likely on the main ckt board. If it does not go out, that is the problem.

Bill; thanks for the reply. When I block the sensor with my foot the light does go out. Wich board is the main one? there are two; one on each side in the rear of the unit.

One is the control electronics, one is the actual motor power control. Contact Genie at their website. I have had very quick response form their e-mail support. Have your model # handy.
