I have a Briggs & Stratton 12.5 hp, Mod. 286707, Type 015201engine and I need to get the crankcase off. About 3 yrs. ago I removed the case to replace a leaking gasket and the case slid right off. However a couple of week ago I let the oil get low and the engine has frozen up. I tried to remove the case again to check to see how much damage has been done and the case is stuck to the crankshaft. The case is free and moves freely with all of the bolts removed but will not slide off the shaft. I used a puller and applied a little force, trying not to damage the case, and tapped on the shaft but it will not budge. Any suggestions?

The case is already damaged beyond repair, If it's stuck that bad the crank is most likely trash as well.
The only suggestion I have is shortblock it, Then check the oil before each mowing.
Good Luck
