around 5 years old, craftsman, cleaned the carb, no change. it shuts down like it is being turned off, real quick. does not seem like a fuel issue , but not sure. please advise. thanks, rune

sounds like the coil is heating up and loosing it's connection. Next time it dies, pull the spark plug and check for spark.

Try runnng it with the gas cap loose in case the air vent is plugged up.
