Ok, I looked for another thread for help but I didn't see any. I'm in FL and it's hot and rainy mostly. Very recently I noticed the grass dieing. It appeared to have small white things attached to a thin thread in the effecd areas only. I tried to eliminate the possibility of "web worms" but I cannot find a picture that will confirm the theory. There are no circles rather largely spreading areas. I usually use a brand name fertilizer and a couple months ago spread Triazicide. Any ideas?

Well it sounds more like disease/fungus than an insect.

Can you post a pic?Note you have to post it on photobucket or similar site then post the link here.

Try a disease control/fungicide.Talk to people who work in local greenhouses or garden centers that have familiarity with local issues, avoid big box stores.

If you have a Scoot's Lawn Pro dealer near you they have an excellent granular lawn disease control product you cannot buy at a big box retailer.

I'll try to post the pic. If it works I'll come back and attach the link. My neighbor had his local service/treatment folks come out today and they said it was "sod web worms" as he has the same problem (a couple appear to have this issue). I'm going to scan the site for the quickest way to salvage what's left of my law as soon as possible....before it all disappears! Thanks!

Go to the Scott's web site and through the Ortho link and search for recommendations for sod web worms. That will tell you the best products to use and likely it will be sprayable with a hose end sprayer.
