We have a 24' above ground pool - around 13,500 gallons. We converted from Bacquacil to Chlorine this year. So far our pool looks much clearer, no algae. However, we can't seem to keep the chlorine level up and aren't sure what we're doing wrong. We can shock the pool one night, and a few days later the chlorine level is way below 1 ppm - we are also using 3" tablets in a floater. I'm sure all of the old Bacquacil has been eaten off, so that shouldn't be a problem.

How many tablets should we be using? We were using two, but now we're up to three, and it doesn't seem to have helped. I made sure the floater was opened all the way.

From everything I've read online, we should only have to shock once per week at most.

Thanks!

Have you checked the conditioner (CYA) level ? Without it your chlorine goes quick.
