Hey Sammy if yer out there...
No big issue, but is a 20 degree drop over outside about the best I can expect from a small Champion window unit. Its what fit in the hole existing in the wall of the garage, so its what I used.
I know it's relative to outside temp and humidity, just wondered if there were any tricks to help out a bit.
Thx
Vic

Hi Gunguy. Is this the little wc28 model with the direct drive blower? If it is, then yes. I have serviced them before and they just dont have the pad area.
I have seen simillar problems with the Adobe air direct drive model, once again, just dont have the pad area.
Your best bet would be to get a 3,000 cfm belt drive model, they tend to have a much bigger cabinet.
Be aware, the newer champion 3,000 belt drive window units are now being designed after the old fashion Essick model that had two skinnier side panels and the back panel is wider. Once again, not enough pad area and the unit is so thin, that the back pad panel sits right up against the motor. Not very safe in my book.:)

Ok, kinda what I thought...and I think that is the model.
It's only 18 months old, so I won't be upgrading anytime soon. It's only to keep the garage temp low enough to be workable in. I normally change pads 2X per season, and give the unit a complete cleaning..we have pretty hard water here. I drain it once a day and put the water in some flower beds..that seemed to help some this year as well.
Guess I'm getting all it has to give.
Thx

Too bad your not closer to Vegas, I have a 3,000 cfm belt drive unit that was bought 4 years ago and used for 3 months. It is sitting in my backyard and I would rather give it away to someone that really wants or needs it.
I've even got a set of pads in the garage for it and a truck toolbox full of used purge pumps that need to get tossed pretty soon.

Well, jeez! We're trying to quit smoking..that was our only reason to drive up once a month to the base.
I don't really want to open up the hole in the wall anyway. Not sure why the prior owners didn't just put it in the window 6" away. And like I said..I drain it daily during the season, so a purge pump might not help that much.
Just one thing...which pads do you consider best for a small unit? Right now I have the aspen pads in, cause thats all that was available when I shut it down last year. I used the blue synthetic(?) last year, mainly cause they were easier to cut and didn't drop stuff into the tray. I've seen the green corrogated type...? Or do they really make much difference in the thinner sizes?
