So I need to remove my countertop and my electric range. I have never moved a range before and I dont quite understand how it connects to the appliance.
I see the conduit connecting to the cooktop with a plastic covering. It moves easily clockwise and couterclockwise but I do not know how to disconnect it. Does this thing typically "unplug"? Not sure if I should just pull down on it really hard or what exactly I need to do to disconnect it.
I assume its a universal thing, but I have an older Kitchenaid cooktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums! Generally cooktops are "hardwired" to a box on the wall behind the unit. Disconnect the power to the rangetop, locate the box, remove the cover and you will find where the wires are (or should be) capped to each other. Undo the caps, remove the flex cable from the box, then recap the wires that remain in the box. Will you be replacing the top, or installing a full stove unit?
