Hi: Wondering why on my Bosch cooktop all of sudden the larger burner of a dual burner set will not operate. The smaller ring heats up, but the outer larger ring will not when I click the control knob to the setting for it. It worked yesterday fine so what has happened 24 hours later? Any solutions would be appreciated and what would your solution approximately cost?

can you post the model #? You probably have a controller, element or wire issue.

Hi: the model is NKT 72 and the manual I have is dated 1998, but doesn't really help. I inherited this cooktop when I bought the place. There is no fire hazard if the dual burner doesn't work is there? Also, would it be expensive to repair or better to buy something new instead of fixing the problem? Thanks in advance.

There's a number missing from your model number. The correct number would Be NKT722, 725 or 726. There is also a rev. 1 and rev. 2, but I couldn't find out what the revisions were. I found the wiring diagram online at Appliance Parts Pros.com Discount Appliance Parts – Appliance Repair Parts (http://www.appliancepartspros.com) From your description it sounds like you have a bad element or perhaps a bad connection at the element. Which dual element one ismalfunctioning? It sounds like you are describing the left front element? Is that correct? If so, the part # is 296755, it's about $129 at the Bosch website.

I doubt there's any danger of a fire. You will want to verify that you have voltage going to the element, which means you'll have to test live voltage. If you're uncomfortable with that I suggest calling someone or replacing the cooktop.

Thanks for the advice. The inner burner works, the knob to turn doesn't turn easily so there might be more parts involved. The cooktop is over 10 yrs. old so I guess I'll start looking for a new cooktop or remodel my kitchen & buy a complete stove which I would prefer to have anyway.
PS: I can still use the rest of the burners until I do something about the problem, right? Thanks again.

sure they still work; the problem seems centered on just that one area.

Thanks Daddyjohn for all your help. Not sure what I'll be doing, but until then I can use the cooktop without worrying about a fire.:)
