I recently discovered ants in my bathroom. After some research I've concluded they are "little black ants". Problem is, nowhere is it mentioned that they can chew through [eat?] wood. This is how they came to my bath, chewing through the base board molding. Have I misidentified them or are they capable of doing this. Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any replies.

They did not chew through the wood, they exploited either a rotted area or the work of some other pest and/or got through a very small seam etc and it just looks like they came through the wood.
Solution:Terro.Greatest product ever made for these ants.Follow package directions however I suggest you use a small peice of foil or wax paper versus the cardboard cut outs on the box.
