How does one bleed the hydralic system on a log splitter? I
just replaced the filter and assume the system needs to be
bled.

When I've replaced the hydraulic filter on a tractor or lawn mower there wasn't any bleeding necessary. The circulating system may be self bleeding. If it were mine I'd try it out and see if it works.

What Poly said sounds right. Can't believe the filter would be on any sort of high pressure.

The air will likely purge itself during normal use...just make sure to recheck the fluid level and add as needed.
