I have a dryer plug and need to convert to a 240 20 amp receptacle If this is a three wire dryer plug and is not connected with metal conduit it may not be possible. What kind of wire or cable? If it is four wire and the item being plugged in is 240v not 120/240v the neutral will need to be caped and the breaker changed to 20a. also need to set up three of them can I do that off one cord? You can have only one 240v receptacle per circuit.
Of course since you haven't told us what you want to do the above answer may be wrong.

You can have more than one receptacle on a 240volt circuit. You may not have a connected load greater than the circuit is rated for. Which, in most cases, is one per circuit.
