Hi,
I have a 1923 home that has three rather large old floor registers made of wood. The registers are 'hatched' shape which allows dust and dirt to fall through and collect on the duct work below. It looks terrible when looking at it from above and I am tired of cleaning them.
Is there a way I can install some type of filter that will catch the particles but not restrict air flow?
Thanks in advance for your help.

No
Anything you put in would restrict airflow.

Yes, there are a few kinds.. Same concept as portable air purifiers that have pre-filters that catch "dust" or air borne particles before they go into the unit. I would contact an HVAC company in your area, maybe even Lowe's or Home Depot might have them.
