I recently tried to change my thermastat and I think I shorted out something. There is no fuse in the air handler. The unit is a tempstar heat pump installed in 1992. It is an all electric split system. Anyone have the answer to bring the 24 volt power back?

First, you must find the transformer. You should have 24 vac on the secondary and 110 -120vac on the primary side. If the house voltage side is okay, you can try turning off the furnace breaker for a few minutes and then turn it back. Transformer may reset, but many have a one shot thermistor and you will then need a new transformer.

Replace your 110 to 24VAC transformer. It is cube shaped and not far down the primary power circuit of your air handler.
