I replaced the condensor fan motor and capacitor last weekend and with some help from this forum got my a/c working. Now today I came home to a hot house and a clicking noise inside the unit and the fan trying to turn but stopping. I took the covers off once more and inside the control box there was a contact arcing fire. When I pushed in on the contact with a screwdriver ,the condensor and compressor started working, let off and it quit. I am not sure if this is like points or what? Need help.:wall:

check to be sure you have a seady 24 volts to the magnetic coil on the contactor, if yes, replace the contactor.
