Have a rather large (40" x 10") whole house carbon filter, Rainsoft Silver series and need to remove the head (guessing that's what it's called) so I can dump the old carbon and rebed it. Any special way these things are attached? Threaded or what...... Thanks in advance.

rainsoft units are threaded onto the tanks. if they have been on there a while they can be kind of stubborn to get off.
