Have you been habitually arming this system with the _installer code_? If so, it sounds like you may have armed it with something like the quick arm function, which the installer code cannot disarm.

Do you know any code other than the installer code?

If power up with *+# within 50 seconds isn't jumping into program mode, try having a helper hold * + # _while_ you restore power.

Hi Ron thanks for replying as always you are very helpful
i have not been using installer code or a quick arm.
i have tried both bethods you suggested at start up nothing helps .It stays in busy stand by mode and comes stay mode guessing either my keypad is bad or cable connecting keypad or the board itself .ordered a new kit yesterday as this has caused 2 false alarms (2 visits by cops).I definitely would like to find the cause(being a true techie that i am) before i install the new keypad and board .

Given that you quoted an installer code commonly used by ADT, and it seems to still be sending panics to them (unplugging the phone line while tinkering is usually a good idea), It's very possible that they dialed into this system and locked out the local programming functions or even disabled the system.

i got a new board and keypad which replaced old vista 20se and with 6150 key pad was able to successfully disarm the system(not sure if it was keypad or cable.
I now have a new issue with vista 20p i can arm in stay mode but when doors are opened it does not set off the alarm .will try test mode and see if it works i changed enrty delay to 45 secs no impact.

How long are you waiting to open the doors after arming?

i open the door immediately i guess i will wait and see if that triggers of the alarm .
