In planning an a/c replacement I discovered just how large a heat load south-facing windows are. My first thought was to replace the IGUs with low-e, but for best load reduction the glass also needs to be tinted, making the place darker even when you wish for bright.
An automatic external light-control film on a scroll (for example) seems like a good solution if it could be done well, but Google didn't lead me to any. Anyone know of such?
