Since I received some excellent advice here in the past, I though I would try again...
I have a laars lite 2 (LG175) spa heater that I needed to swap the input/output header from the right side to the left side. Once reconnected to the new plumbing, both the input and output pipes are leaking at the connection to the header (between where the flanges bolt on to the header). I used new 2" flange gaskets and sleeves to no avail. When I tightened the flange bolts, the 2" flange gaskets (which seemed a bit too large), did manage to slip into place. Since they were both leaking, I removed the connections, and was surprised that the flange sleeves were dimpled in one place. This is because the inside of the header has some kind of obstructing tab in the cast. This was true for both the water inlet and outlet. Are the bolts not meant to be tightened down all the way?
I also tried the old gaskets, which were pretty worn. They also leaked. They seemed to have a smaller inner diameter, and there was no sleeve present in the original non-leaking installation.
I am using factory parts (as per the manual), to no avail. Any suggestions?
