I recently bought a house which was built around 1895. As far as I know, the wiring for ceiling fixtures is original, many wall outlets have been updated.....as well as dedicated lines for a/c's.
My wife has purchased a ceiling fan for one of the front rooms, I am not totally comfortable with the idea of installing this ceiling fan with lights......( it draws 120v, 0.51 amps and 63 watts.....plus (3) 75watt light bulbs.)
So, my question is ..........is my concern unwarranted and or how can I be sure that the ceiling fixture wiring can handle the load of the ceiling fan.

You're only pulling 2.4 amps, so sure the wire should handle the load. BUT, you haven't offered and we can determine the size of the wire, what shape it is in, if it is cloth covered, in BX covering, etc. So more info would be helpful.

Based on the age of your house alone, I will give you a warning to check the condition of the insulation on any wires in the junction boxes, especially ceiling ones. Age and heat were not kind to the fabric insulation and many times it can crumble right off when touched.

The wiring does have fabric installation, I should add that the room is on the second floor ,and above its ceiling is the roof with a rubberized coating , so the room is sun baked from above and through its large windows. All of which is making me think more and more that it may not be a good idea to install the ceiling fan........As I can't get an accurate age of the existing wiring........
