I found my Sundance spa was leaking a little and after looking at things closer I found it to be leaking from the shaft of the motor for the pump. With everything together and the motor running, there were drops of water coming off the shaft as it spun. That was all I could tell without taking apart the pump housing.

I have a Hayward Power-flo LX 1580-Z-2 (Swimming Pool Pump - Hayward SP1580 Series Power-Flo LX Pump (http://www.poolandspa.com/catalog/product001602000274.cfm)) without the strainer assembly.

I tried to take out the motor so I could fix it but the nuts that hold the motor to the spa are rusted and I can't get them lose. I might be able to cut the ones in front but I certainly can't reach the ones in back (thought cutting them wasn't a good idea anyway).

So I proceeded to take off the pump housing, that came off just fine. But I am not sure what I would replace. In looking at the picture in the link from above, what would be the most likely cause of this type of leak? Since I am not able to get the motor out and get a good picture of everything involved I am not sure what to replace.

To me it seems that the o-ring labeled #4 would be a place to start but I wouldn't be asking if I knew the answer.

Thanks
