I have applied a liquid stain to my kitchen cabinets and now am applying a wipe on polyutherane. But sections of the cabinets are clouding up . Why??

Is the stain dry?
Are you getting stain in the poly?

"cloudy" can be caused by a couple of things. First was the stain dry - take a clean cloth and wipe the cabinet- very little stain shop be on the rag when it has dried completely. Next was it hot/humid on the day you applied the poly- if the finish dries too quick it can lock or trap the moisture in the finish. Also the stain and the top coat need to be compatible either water based or solvent based.
