Hey fellow DIYers
I have a fan in my master bedroom that is connected to a 3-speed fan switch that is having problems. The fan runs at three speeds the problem is the speeds are: moving, low or full force/hurricane. It seems that most people on the forums here lose medium and high so I figured a new thread was in order.
The Details:
Fan - Great Gatsby - Unknown age (probably came with the house 26 years ago) was in the house when I bought it 5 years ago. On fan controls - reverse switch (which the speeds are the same regardless of the direction) and a single pull chain that changes between off, fan, light, and fan/light
Wall Switch - Lutron Skylark, Dual control, 3 speed fan/infinite light.
I don't know if the speed was an issue when we first moved in but my wife recently commented on the slow speeds. So I replaced the switch with another skylark switch. Unfortunately I still have moving, slow and hurricane as the speeds. My next thought was to buy a different brand switch.
If anyone has seen this I would love some suggestions.
Thanks,
Jacob

First, make sure that your fan is set to the highest speed using the pull chain. With the pull chain you also have three speeds and off. (high, med, low, off, high, med, etc.)
If it is still not running right I would suspect the switch is bad.

There is no visible place a speed controll chain could go on this fan. If seems that the fan was designed for use with a control switch on the wall. Guess I will try a third switch.
