I went out of town while in texas summer heat for 7 days and cut my A/C off and when I got back last night I turned it on and it was working great. However, when I woke up all the main rooms were 83 degrees and then I went outside and looked at the blower and there was a line frozen so then I looked inside it and the motor looks frozen too. The fan thing can turn on but right now I have got it off as I was hopeing it would defrost here in a bit since the temp is going to be 100 again today. My filters are inside the house in the ceiling and replaced them recently so I they are not clogged. Can anyone let me know if there is anything else I should do or do you think I should call some expensive repair man?

When was the last time the unit was serviced?

I got the evaporator coil replaced about 2 yrs ago. The house is only 4 years old. Maybe I should not have left the unit off while I went out of town for a week. I was hopeing that after the line and unit outside unfroze it would work but I just went out and checked it and now the stuff outside is not frozen and tried the unit but it was still not blowing air inside. I don't think it would be frozen in the attic because it feels like a million degrees up there.

Let me see if I understand the problem. Are you saying the indoor blower is not running?

You will have to forgive me b/c i don't know that much about it but yes I think that is the case b/c the outside blower was running but frozen, now unfroze and will still run. However, no air will come out of ceiling vent. I am not sure if the inside of the line is still frozen somewhere and air cannot get through or if a blower somewhere in the attic is no longer running. What would you guess?

how long did you leave it off to thaw?

Probably 3 or 4 hours and I sprayed water on the outside line. It is about 99 degrees today and I no longer see ice on the unit outside. The attic is very hot as well. I did notice that when I touch the line outside near the giant fan thing it is still cold but not ice cold. Do you think it needs longer? All this help is very appreciated.

Go to your thermostat and set the system to "off". Then set the fan to "on". Go to your furnace and listen for the blower motor. Is it running?

iwithin the fan section in the attic the fan might be running but with the ice covering the coil it won't move air till it defrosts
