Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engines - Sears Gas Hedge trimmer

Trimmer is my neighbor's. He says it about 5 years old and is the 19" inch model.

I took the carb apart and cleaned it well. Still will not start, but will run for a short time on carb cleaner squirted in carb throat. One thing I noticed is that if I push the primer bulb down completely gas comes out the vent hole on the gas cap.

Anyone have any ideas for a fix.

Is the tank jammed right full of fuel when you were priming it??? Did you install a carb kit with all the diaghragms & gaskets & screens & stuff when you cleaned the carb??? If not,, I would suggeset you do & also check the lines both inside & outside the tank as with today's fuel,, It seems carb kits & lines have a very short life...Also check the bolts that hold the cylinder to the crankcase & any other bolts that could seal the engine... Do you have a model number or anything the pro's can use, as I'm sure you'll get more help from them if they know what you're working on,,,, Roger
