Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I'm assuming the steps here are for enrolling a wireless device.

Can you give me the steps to set zone definition and zone attribute. I have a wireless door contact WLS925L-433 and motion WLS904L-433.

I followed the steps above and nothing happens. So I clear the zone, entering 000000, and tried again, still nothing.

I really appreciate any help you can give.

If you have a WLS907 transmitter (with no -433 at the end of the part number) that means you have the old 900mhz model.

From the PC 5132 installer manual:

1. At a system keypad, enter [8][Installer’s code] to go the installer’s programming section.
2. Enter programming section [804].
3. Enter the 2-digit number corresponding to the zone the device is to occupy ([01] to [32]).
4. Enter the device’s ESN. The entry must be six digits. If an older device with a 5-digit ESN is being enrolled, add the digit [0] to the beginning of the ESN. (E.g. ESN=21234, enter 021234)
5. The device is now enrolled on the system.

That's because you are trying to use the instructions for a different model receiver than the one you have.

What model _alarm system_ are you using? The programming details vary a bit by model.

Hi,

Please forgive me but I'm very new to these terms. So far what I can tell is the instruction manual says DSC PowerSeries Envoy LCD, the box in the closet, that has the battery says PowerSeries 632 PC 1555MX. Hopefully, this is correct, or do I need to open that box to determine what the motherboard is, if that's the correct term.

I stand corrected, I open the box and the board inside has a sticker on it that says PC1616.

Thanks,
realkewl

What zones are you planning to use the motion and door sensors on, and what are your current zones now? Then we can give you step by step instructions.

Will be using zones 9, 10, and 11.

9 and 10 are door contacts and 11 will be motion.

Currently I have zones 1 and 2 for door contact and glass break...both hard wired.

Thanks,

Since we have established that you do _not_ have a PC 1555, we'll move this into it's own thread to prevent more confusion.

I suspect that you have a system that had an upgrade/replacement to the newer PC 1616 motherboard.

The first question that I now have is: _Do you actually have a wireless receiver_?

To do this you need either a PC5132-433 wireless receiver, or a keypad with a model number ending in -433. With what you have described, I'm not too sure you even have a wireless receiver.

(P.S. take the envoy manual and either discard it or put it in a file somewhere, the Envoy is yet a third model that is totally diffferent from either the PC 1555 or PC1616 (the latter is essentially the updated version of the former).)

Yes I have a wireless receiver and it should be PC 5132. I have had this unit for 5 years and the wireless unit has always worked. However, every nine months or so the units stop communicating to the receiver. I have always called my security guy and he would come out and reprogram it. However, because of the poor economy he is no longer in the security busy. Hope this makes since.

Thanks,

If your receiver is 5132 (without the "-433" suffix), then your new 433mhz transmitters are not compatible with it. The original version was 900mhz.

I appreciate your insight. But again, the unit worked fine. With the upgraded board. The security guy can program it, and after he's done it works. So not sure why it would now be incompatible. Why manual do I need to program the wireless; PC1616 or PC 5132. I followed your steps, I think, for the PC5132, and it enrolled the unit, again I think. But further reading said I need to define the zone definition and zone attribute. Does that make since? Again, I am very new to this so I do apprciate your help.

Ok, I figured it out. The steps you gave for the PC 5132 is correct. What I was missing was the HEX programming. My ESN # contains a letter and I could not figure out how to enter it. The trick is *[letter number mapping]* e.g. I had 12345A so I had to program 12345*1*.

The mapping
A = 1
B = 2
C = 3
D = 4
E = 5
F = 6

Thanks for all the help and insight.

I'm glad you figured out what step you were missing. Clearly, you have the PC5132-433 receiver board, or it wouldn't have finally worked.

With DSC the complete model numbers are critical because a few years ago they abandoned the 900mhz transmitter line and went to 433mhz. The two versions are not only incompatible, but have different programming locations for many functions.
