This unit has worked fine for the past 2.5 years in my finished basement. 3 days ago, found unit making loud noise and coil frozen. Cleaned filter (not very dirty) and allowed coil to defrost. Worked for 6-8 hours and froze again. Found same condition past two days. Worth fixing? Whirlpool states 5 yr warranty. Refrigerant leak? Has R22 and think that's not available anymore? Seen similar problems posted with this model on the internet. Please advise. High temps and high humidity here, don't want to ruin my basement.

Hope the mod will see this and move to the correct location. It could be a leak and yes they still make R-22. Could also be an airflow or coil problem.
