I am building a cabinet/bookcase and I have ran into a problem. To finish it, I wanted to put trim on the edges of all the plywood so that it looks better. However, I am using rounded trim and I need to bring two pieces together that are perpendicular to each other. As in, the vertical piece meets the horizontal pieces of trim in the middle(not a corner). What is the best way to go about doing this without it looking bad or choppy?

the standard method is to cut a "v" notch in the vertical part that lines up with the horizontal part. the end of the horizonal part then has a matching "v" point, that fits into the notch. This in essence is like baby 1/2 mitered corners.

I leave the vertical piece alone and cut the horizontal piece back at an angle. That way only the base of the trim meets the vertical piece. If the cove piece has a square base, angle only the decorative piece and let teh square base match up to the vertical square base.
