First post, new to this forum and also green when it comes to alarms. Thanks in advance for any help and for being patient with someone who may not explain themself very well.
Here are my problems: #1. I have a standard alpha display keypad (came with the system) and a Honeywell (Ademco) Vista 15p setup. I can arm and disarm the system using my master code, but I can only arm the system using the macro key "A= Away" and "B=Stay" it will not disarm using my master code. It also will not disarm when I enable the system with "Quick Arm Enable" #followed by Away. #2. I have an ATW DS50 siren which was hooked up to my old Vista 10 system, I hooked it to the new system and it only gives off a chirp when the alarm is tripped. Is this a programming issue or is it not compatible with the Vista 15.

Thanks again for any help you may provide.

Are you trying to use the _installer_ code to disarm? If so, you need to set an actual _master_ code.

The installer code can arm and disarm _only_ if it was the code used to arm the system. _Any_ other arming method locks the installer code out.

Check the siren by powering it directly from the battery. There's no special programming, it's a 12vdc device, and the siren output is 12vdc. The one possibility is that you are drawing more current than the siren output supports, and Ademco panels will simply shut down under those conditions. A weak, dead, or missing battery will also cause this, because the siren output taps the battery.

I did set a master code using field *20, but I did it after I realized that I could not disarm the system. So that does not seem to be the problem.
This does not keep me from using the system it will just make it easier for my wife to arm it. Anything to simplify life for her!!!

The siren problem may be solved, I don't have the battery connected because I have been powering down to access programming mode.

Field *20 is the _installer code_!

Look in the operation section of your installer manual for the procedure to use the installer code to set the Master User Code.

MrRonFL, thank you for all your help. What now seems to be easy (thanks to you) had me baffled. Both problems have been rectified. Thanks for your patience, John D. in CT.
