hello folks. i am back again. hiya Mark, hows it goin.
you should see the HT i have built
anyway
i am starting my master shower rebuild very soon.
my wife is somewhat disabled = has a hard time with steps.
1 month ago, she tripped over the curb, 4 1/2" inside and 7" outside, total height. and bashed her knee pretty bad.
slab. now has tile on bathroom floor, and a "all" fiberglass shower. all this is being torn out.
my question :
i am going to do an all tile shower stall , and new tile on bathroom floor. i am looking for advice on how to keep the shower floor and the curb as low as possible.
i'm not worried about a small amount of water splashing out onto the floor. and the shower "backing up / overflowing" is not an issue.
please, ask questions that i have not thought of. and advice.
thanx a ton :)

ok, i got moved. i was rethinking if this was in the correct room. anyway
i am looking for what room to ask about shower controls ?
we have a 2 head shower fixture. it has a valve up by the pipe. sometimes i forget to switch it back, and my wife usually cannot reach up and switch it back.
what i need, is some kind of way to switch between them that is down lower.
thanx again

no replies, hmmm
anyway. i was picking out tile. and asked the guy. he said 2" would be fine.
and i am still looking for the shower controls that i need. heck, even a valve on the wall would be ok.
i should be more clear.
we have one of those dual shower head things. a fixed head, and one that is on a hose. single regular pipe up on the wall.
i want 2 pipes on the wall. 1 for a fixed head, and the other for the hosed head. and a way to switch between them, that is not up high on the wall.
i hope i explained this well enough. as i really need to find these.
thanx

How big is the shower area? If its big enough, you may be able to get away with no curb at all. Look into Schluter kerdi showers, go to their website. It is a completely waterproof shower system, requires only one sloped mud bed (not 2 like conventional showers) so you can keep the height of the finished shower floor to a minimum. You can also waterproof the entire bathroom floor by using ditra outside the shower so that water spashes are not an issue.
Sorry, can't help with the plumbing.

I assume your are talking about the shower floor. 2" tile is good, 1" is better. The more grout lines, the less slip hazzard. Smaller tiles = less slip, bigger tiles = more slip.

its 3' x 4' , not to big, but what i have. so a curb will be needed.
yes, i am going to use kerdi, to keep it low, and more fool proof.
i have the plumbing figured out, they make what i want. just have to find the one i want.
