hello,
I am installing 2 mini-pod (recessed) lights (each 12 volts) in my bathroom. The problem is that the hole I made for each light is right between 2 2x4 beams in the ceiling so that if I insert the lights in their holes, they would almost touch both beams inside the ceiling.
Should I treat the 2x4 beams with some sort of fire-proof coating? Or should I insulate around the pod lights or do nothing?
I'm wondering if mini-pod lights are as much a fire hazard as regular ones.
cheers!

I would say that the mini ones are more of a fire hazard because many times they are not IC rated. Are yours?

It may raise issue with fire harzard but can you run the model numbers one of us will check it out for you to see if that is safe for that type of installment.
Merci,Marc
P.S. is the 2X4 beam is used for dropped ceiling or 2X6{8 or 10} on oringal ceiling ?

the 2x4 beams are part of the drop ceiling, not the ceiling joists.
OK, so the code for the mini-pod light is:
R036C-02 - EuroFase Mini Downlight
other information found on the box:
"12v, 60hrz, 1x20W/12V max with shield/avec écran"
"only use type MR-11 lamp"
I guess these are for the bulb
does this give you an idea?

If they are remodel housing it should not have too much issue with it.
As long you keep proper spaceing you will be fine with it.
If a new construction type make sure you have at least 3 inches (60mm) away from insulating materals and follow the manufacter instruction you will have no issue with it and majorty of the recessed luminarie do have thermal switch it will shut them off if too hot.
