Hi,

My father's Lawn-Boy mower, 10323, is shooting gas from the exhaust on start up. After a while it runs ok, but it will so the same thing again the next day.

Any ideas what this is or how to fix it?

How many times do you prime it & do you have it in the choke position @ the same time while starting it??? It should start with choke OR primer,, But both is overkill... Also check for spark when starting,, These Lawn-Bowys are famous for ignition modules going bad,,, Good Luck,, Roger

Sounds to me like the needle is leaking and allowing fuel to seep into the engine while it is not being used. Once you get it started it burns it all off then floods again after you shut it down.

Thanks so much for your help. My father is going to look into the needle.

He wants to know, "Is there any chance it could be related to the valve? Do you think it's worth trying to fix?"

I know he changed the carburetor. Could that have contributed to the problem?

No, it wouldn't have anything to do with the reed valve. It's the inlet needle valve in the carb.
