Are medicine cabinets still in or as my contractor says "they're old-fashioned". He suggests just a plain mirror the total length of the vanity 5'. Any suggestions?

I'd say it depends on YOUR needs/wants. Sounds to me like he want's to go cheap and quick. There are some pretty fancy 3 door mirror cabinets.
I like the set in style better than surface mount personally.

Hi rossmore,
IMO, if any product is technically outdated, you can say that "it is old-fashioned".
But if a nice and useful cabinet as a medicine cabinet fits in your bathroom decor and it is convenient for you, I don't see any design issue in this choice
Also, a medicine cabinet is a great space saver!!!:D
