I have an ADT Safewatch Pro 3000EN panel. In doing home renovations the jamb switch on my front door was removed then reinstalled on the new door/frame. This door (and one other) share a single "delayed entry" zone. Since reinstallation I cannot get the system to show "ready to arm" and the panel beeps three times when both opening and closing the front door. Do I need to reprogram or reset something? (I tested the switch and it seems to function properly).

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

If the door beeps/chimes when opened and closed, then it is working correctly. Press * to see what other zone(s) are open.

Thanks RonFL!

Prior to the change, the "chime" function only sounded when a door was opened, not closed. Now both doors on the delayed entry zone chime on both opening and closing. (Doors on other zones still chime on opening only.)

Just my front and side doors are on the delayed entry zone (02) and it's only that zone (02) that is keeping the system from being "ready."

Might it help to power down fully, then power up (as indicated in your FAQ?)

Thanks!

Paul

It's a modified vista 20p, and no, Ademco style panels only beep when the zone is opened. I suspect that you have the magnet and contact misaligned so that the magnet is passing by the contact as you open and close the door.

The standard plug style contacts have a fairly narrow operating range. The magnet needs to be nearly dead center when the door is in the closed position.

If you take the magnet and put it directly on the contact, I suspect that your zone will show closed.

Hmmmm... The door contact is a Sentrol switch, flush-mounted at the base of the door, hinge side. I put a meter on it, and the contacts are firmly closed when the door is shut, open when the door is open. So I think the switch is fine.

If I shunt the wires to the door switch the situation does not change - I cannot get zone 02 to clear. I tested the other door on the zone and it's fine as well.

Collectively, I suspect that it's something in the panel. My guess: When the switch was disconnected during the door removal, the panel sensed a "trouble" condition and needs some type of reset once the switch was reinstalled. I tried disarming the system several times in succession (as when clearing an alarm condition) without any luck.

Sorry to trouble you with this, but I've scoured the installation manual for the 20-p without success.

Simple test: bridge the zone 2 input closed with a 2k resistor (if your system uses resistors or a wire loop if it doesn't).

If the zone closes, the you have a wiring problem.

In general, the software on these systems do not change spontaneously. If you made no programming changes, then the zone should close.

(could you have removed/lost the zone resistor?)
